Wealden MP Nus Ghani has met with John Halsall, Network Rail Regional Managing Director.
They were discussing current and future projects across Wealden.
Upgrades have recently taken place to improve embankments at Wadhurst to prevent landslides. Eridge and Crowborough stations have also seen recent improvements. A new footbridge was installed at Eridge as well as a new accessible features and an upgraded waiting room.
Construction of step-free upgrades at Crowborough are expected to be completed in the autumn.
Nus said: “I’m pleased to have met with Network Rail to discuss the progress of the works at Eridge and Crowborough train stations as well as future projects in Wealden. I’m pleased to have secured these vital upgrades and I’m very much looking forward to opening the improved and step-free Eridge station next month. Train travel is a key form of transport for Wealden residents and securing improvements to rail services in Wealden remains one of my priorities. I have repeatedly raised the need of a major investment into the electrification of the Uckfield Line with my Ministerial colleagues, and I will continue this quest.”
