In the weekend’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town and Crowborough Athletic are back in action in the Southern Combination League.
Uckfield face a stern test, as they host second placed Broadbridge Heath, while Crowborough go in search of a fifth straight win with a visit to Midhurst and Easebourne.
Also in the Southern Combination League, Jarvis Brook are away to Copthorne.
In the Mid Sussex League, Ridgewood will be looking to continue their excellent start to the season, as they entertain Roffey Development. Uckfield United are at home to Preston Park, while Rotherfield go to Balcombe and Buxted host Peacehaven and Telscombe Reserves. There are also home fixtures for Newick, Nutley, Maresfield and Plumpton.
Lewes are in FA Cup action, as they host fellow Sussex side Three Bridges in the second qualifying round on Saturday.
Lewes’s ladies team are at home to London City Lionesses in the Championship on Sunday afternoon, while Brighton’s ladies begin their Women’s Super League campaign on Friday evening, as they visit Arsenal.
In rugby union, Uckfield play their opening match of the new league season on Saturday, as they welcome Pulborough to Hempstead Fields. Crowborough are away at Cranbrook.
For racing fans, Plumpton Racecourse stages its first meeting of the season on Sunday. The first race is due off at 13:50.
