Weekend Sporting Preview

In the weekend’s local football – which is likely to be subject to the weather – AFC Uckfield Town will be looking to bounce back from their defeat on Tuesday night, as they visit AFC Varndeanians. This match has a 1.30 kick-off.

Meanwhile, in a 3 pm kick-off, Crowborough are at home to lowly Saltdean.

In the Sussex Intermediate Cup, high-flying Jarvis Brook are away to Ditchling, while Rotherfield visit Barnham Trojans.

In the Mid Sussex League, Nutley host Newick.  Fletching entertain Eastbourne Rangers Reserves, while Barcombe are at home to Portslade Athletic.  There are also home matches for Hartfield against Reigate Priory ‘A’ and for Maresfield, who face Portslade Athletic Reserves.

Elsewhere, Uckfield United visit AFC Ringmer’s third team, and Plumpton go to AFC Ringmer’s fourth team.

After two good wins on the road over the past week, Lewes return to home soil tomorrow with the visit of Canvey Island in a 1 pm kick-off.

Meanwhile, Lewes’s ladies team host the London Bees in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.  And in the Women’s Super League, Brighton’s ladies team take on Everton at Crawley Town’s ground.

Finally, in local rugby, Uckfield make the short trip to Lewes, while Crowborough have a home clash against Cranbrook.
