Weekend Sporting Preview

In the weekend’s local football, fifth from bottom AFC Uckfield Town welcome fifth from top Steyning Town to the Oaks.

Crowborough Athletic look to bounce back from their cup defeat in midweek, as they visit an in-form Hassocks, also in the Southern Combination League, Jarvis Brook continue their march towards the Division Two title with a home clash against Rottingdean.

In the Mid Sussex League, Rotherfield are at home to Holland Sports.  Nutley host local rivals Newick.  Fletching entertain league leaders Eastbourne Rangers Reserves, while Barcombe host Portslade, Hartfield are at home to Ashurst Wood’s third team, and Plumpton visit Athletico Burgess Hill & in a cup semi-final, Ridgewood travel to Battle.

In the Isthmian Premier Division, Lewes will be aiming to continue their good run of form, as they visit Folkestone.

There’s a huge game for Lewes’s ladies team on Sunday lunchtime.  Having reached the Women’s FA Cup quarter-final for the first time in the club’s history, they take on Manchester United at the Dripping Pan.  Also, Brighton and Hove Albion’s ladies team travel to Birmingham in another quarter-final tie on Sunday.

The Seagulls men’s team are also in FA Cup action on Sunday, as they welcome League Two side Grimsby to the Amex Stadium.

In local rugby union, it’s the last game of the league season for Crowborough tomorrow, as they host second-placed Bromley.
