It’s been an excellent Bank Holiday weekend for Crowborough Athletic with back-to-back wins in league and cup.
On Saturday, Crowborough progressed into the next round of the FA Vase after a two-nil win at Lordswood. Yesterday, in the Southern Combination League Premier Division, they beat Crawley Down Gatwick two-one, despite finishing the match with nine men after two red cards.
There were mixed fortunes for AFC Uckfield Town. They lost their FA Vase tie against Peacehaven and Telscombe at the Oaks three-one, but Uckfield bounced back yesterday with a three-nil victory in their league clash at Lingfield.
Elsewhere, Jarvis Brook went to the top of Division Two of the Southern Combination League after two wins over the weekend.
In Saturday’s action in the Mid Sussex Football League, there were wins for Ridgewood and Buxted and defeat for Rotherfield.
Lewes had to settle for two draws over the weekend. A late equaliser saw them draw one-all at Corinthian Casuals on Saturday, which was followed yesterday by a goal-less draw at home to Hastings.
Meanwhile, Lewes’ ladies team drew two-all with Southampton in their first home match of the season on Sunday.
And after their one-nil win over Leeds at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, Brighton and Hove Albion are back in action this evening with a visit to Fulham.
Finally, it’s good luck to Sussex’s county cricket team today, as they take on Lancashire in the semi-final of the Royal London One-Day Cup at Hove.
