Weekend Sporting Report

In the weekend’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town were without a game

But, they are back in action tomorrow evening, when they entertain Alfold – kick-off at the Oaks is at 7.30 pm.

A late equaliser gave Crowborough Athletic a point from a one-all draw at Eastbourne United.

Also in the Southern Combination League, Jarvis Brook recorded their eleventh consecutive victory with a four-nil win over Southwater.

In the Mid Sussex League, Rotherfield lost three-two at home to Battle.  Ridgewood trounced Peacehaven and Telscombe seven-nil at the Uckfield All-weather pitch.  Nutley were beaten seven-two at Portslade Athletic, while Barcombe drew one-all with Burgess Hill Rhinos and Maresfield were three-nil winners at Lectern Lights Reserves.

And in a cup match, Fletching beat Ridgewood Reserves two-one.

In the Isthmian Premier Division, there was a good win for Lewes, who beat Haringey Borough two-one.

But there was defeat yesterday for Lewes’s ladies, who lost by the only goal at home to Crystal Palace.  Elsewhere, Brighton’s ladies were beaten three-one at Manchester City.

In local rugby union, Uckfield went down to local rivals East Grinstead by 22 points to 13.  And there was defeat too for Crowborough, who lost by 14 points for five.
