In the Division 5 East, Barcombe’s sparse title hopes were officially ended, thanks to a three wicket defeat to Heathfield Park, while Newick lost by 162 runs to Ringmer, as Fletching beat Pett by 213 runs. Rotherfield’s own title hopes go down to the final game, as their opponents Denton conceded, as Nutley beat Tunbridge Wells Borderers by seven wickets.
Blackboys fell to a 38 run defeat to Herstmonceux’s 2nd XI, and congratulations to Hadlow Down, as they won their division, thanks to a narrow 16 run victory against Hurstpierpoint’s 3rd XI.
In football, Crowborough Athletic exited the FA Cup in a 2-0 defeat to Farnham Town, while AFC Uckfield Town progressed in the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup, beating Saltdean United 2-1, while Jarvis Brook began their season beating Upper Beeding 5-1.In the Mid Sussex Football League, Rotherfield earned a 4-1 win against Ringmer AFC II in the Premier, while Ridgewood beat Ringmer AFC II 4-1 in the Championship.
