Eastbourne Borough had a weekend to forget in Devon as they suffered a heavy 7-0 loss against Torquay United.
Elsewhere, Lewes fell to a 2-0 defeat against Chatham Town, while Crowborough Athletic secured three valuable points by beating Mersham 2-1 as they climb up to 14th.
In the Southern Combinations League, AFC Uckfield Town’s struggles continued after they suffered a 7-0 loss to Loxwood, while Jarvis Brook progessed from the third round of the Peter Bentley Cup after narrowly beating Selsey 1-0.
And in more news for AFC Uckfield Town, they have announced that Alex Harris has resigned as first team manager, with Harris having stepped into the role back in April, with the club now confirming that the search for a new manager is underway.
Over to the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield put in a great performance by beating Punnetts Town 4-0, as Barcombe remain top of the league despite a 1-0 loss to Seaford Town 2nd’s, although the chasing teams all have games in hand, while Ridgewood progressed in the Stratford Cup after beating Ansty FC on penalties.
Meanwhile, Nutley also remain top of their league after drawing 1-1 with second place BN Dons 2nd’s, while Newick’s clash with the Soverign Saints 2nd’s was called off.
Lastly in the mens, Hartfield exited the Malins Cup after losing 5-3 to Dormansland Rockets, while Maresfield Village carry on in the Tester Cup after drawing 2-2 with Ashurst Wood 2nd’s in regular time, before winning 7-6 in the shootout.
Now in women’s football, Lewes secured their place in the third round of the FA Women’s Cup after beating Cheltenham Town 4-0, with the Rooks in control throughout the match, and they will find out their opponents in the next round this evening at 7.
Finally in the men’s rugby, Crowborough went down 22-7 to Dover, as Heathfield & Waldron fell to a 32-16 defeat against league leading Old Elthamians, while Uckfield lost 41-19 to Haywards Heath 2nd’s.
