Families looking for a fun and affordable day out this summer can enjoy a host of activities at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, as its popular Family Learning Days return every Wednesday and Thursday throughout the school holidays.
Visitors can explore two brand-new interactive trails, enjoy animal-themed crafts and games and discover more about the animals in Raystede's care.
The first trail, Which Small Animal?, runs on 22, 23, 29 and 30 July and 5 and 6 August. Families can discover fascinating facts about some of Raystede's small animals and what they need to be happy, healthy pets. Along the way, visitors will find out which small animal lives the longest, which enjoys human company the most and which is the worst climber.
After completing the trail, families can head to the craft room to enjoy a film show and take part in the "Dream Home" activity, before learning how to draw their favourite small animal.
From 12 August, the fun continues with Animal Detectives, an exciting mystery-themed trail running on 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 August. Visitors will work together to follow the clues, discover which animals make the best trackers and security guards, and identify the mystery culprit.
Gemma Price, Head of Prevention and Education at Raystede said: “Our Family Learning Days offer families an enjoyable opportunity to learn more about the welfare needs of the animals we care for.
"We see education about responsible pet ownership as absolutely crucial, especially at a time when the number of animals we are asked to take in continues to rise. Our education and learning events are just one of the ways we help advise people on how best to look after the pets they may already have at home."
Throughout the summer, visitors can also enjoy animal-themed arts and crafts, games and activities, a film show in the yurt cinema and take-home fun resources to continue learning with their own pets.
Summer Holiday Café Promotion
Families can also make the most of their visit with a stop at the dog-friendly Café Raystede, which is running a special summer holiday offer.
Throughout the school holidays, visitors can buy one children's meal and get a second children's meal free, making it even easier to enjoy an affordable family day out while supporting Raystede's work caring for animals.
Raystede's Family Learning Days are free, but online booking is essential to avoid disappointment as these events are very popular.
