A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 63-year-old man in Haywards Heath.
Police were called to a report of an assault involving two men known to each other at The Heath Tavern in Sussex Road, at about 10.50pm on Monday 29 December.
The victim was treated by paramedics and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Sadly, he was later pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
Christopher Iredale, 36, of Sussex Road, Haywards Heath, was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with manslaughter. He was remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 1 January.
Detectives are still appealing for witnesses to come forward or anyone with any information which could help our investigation to get in touch.
