The Sussex Sharks responded to their first defeat in the T20 Blast last time out with a bang, defeating Glamorgan by 78 runs last night, with the Sharks performing well at bat being led by James Coles & Tom Alsop, before a fantastic performance from Nathan McAndrew, who took five wickets alone in just two overs, helping lead the team to their third win in four Blast fixtures, and climb up to second in the standings.
Meanwhile, Sussex Women fell to a narrow five run defeat in their earlier matchup against Glamorgan, as the side were unable to capitalise on a promising opening innings, with Abi Norgrove leading the teams scoring with 42, as Sussex now find themselves third in their division.
Over to local cricket now, where the biggest winner this weekend was the weather, with Crowborough seeing their game against Firle cancelled, while Uckfield Anderida eventually saw their game against the Tunbridge Wells Borderers abandoned, as Buxted Park were beaten by 96 runs against Preston Nomads 2nd’s.
Elsewhere, Heathfield Park claimed a narrow five run victory versus East Dean & Friston that sees them climb up to third, while Newick fell to a 129 run defeat against Lewes Priory, as Isfield moved up one position into second after beating Ringmer by seven wickets.
Meanwhile Barcombe claimed a 42 run win against Hurstpierpoint, as Plumpton & East Chiltington lost to league leading Edenbridge by three wickets, while Fletching maintained their great start to the season with a commanding nine wicket victory against Willingdon.
Finally now for the cricket, Rotherfield lost by 76 runs against an in-form Kerala Strikers Sport side, as Blackboys & Nutley both saw their fixtures cancelled, while Hadlow Down impressed by winning against a previously unbeaten Palmer 2nd’s side by 11 runs.
