Post Office has agreed to relocate Maresfield Post Office to a new location - Maresfield Village Stores, 1 Central Parade, High Street, TN22 2EN. The date for the move is being finalised.
The current postmaster 30 High Street, Maresfield, TN22 2EH, has resigned and the premises are being withdrawn for Post Office use.
There will be a Post Office serving point at the retail counter of the convenience store. A similar range of products and services will still be available. There will be new opening hours of Monday to Saturday: 8am – 5.30pm.
This will offer 51 hours of Post Office service a week, which is an extra 19 hours and 30 minutes of service per week including Saturday afternoon, earlier opening and later closing for the convenience of customers.
The new branch will be in line with Post Office specifications, with sufficient space for the Post Office service to operate alongside the retail offer. We are working closely with the new operator on the internal layout. Some fixtures and fittings will be re-aligned or removed for clear access into the premises, and that aisles and the waiting area are kept free from obstructions. There will be adequate space for customers and a wheelchair to move around without difficulty.
There is a step at the entrance to the proposed premises, however, the new operator is providing a portable ramp to help customers with mobility issues or wheelchair users, get into the store. There will be a clearly visible sign at the front of the premises and a bell will be installed for customers to ring for assistance, which will be accessible to wheelchair users.
