The 701 operated by Stagecoach runs from Brighton to Eastbourne
Operator Stagecoach South said the 701 route had not made enough in money in ticket revenue since it's inception in May
It runs from Eastbourne to Brighton via Seaford and Falmer.
Local transport expers and enthusiats have said it could ahve made more momey had it been routed via Lewes to connect into services from Uckfield, Ringmer and Crowborough, and would have plugged the gap in a regular bus service from Seaford to Lewes, which is only accessable by the once every half hour train service which runs to from Seaford Brighton via Lewes.
The company's managing director, Joel Mitchell, said: "We're grateful to everyone that uses the service and we're really sorry to have to step it down at this point.
"Initially the route did better than we expected and we were pleased with the early uptick in passenger numbers, but growth hasn't quite been enough to be able to sustain the service, especially through the winter, so we're putting it on hold with a view to looking at how we can bring it back in one form or another, perhaps next year."
