Storm Goretti heading towards East Sussex

A Yellow Wind Warning has been issued for coastal regions of Sussex as Storm Goretti moves across the south of the UK on Thursday, January 8, 2026

Warning Details:-

  • Timeframe: In effect from 3:00 PM today (January 8) until 8:00 AM Friday, January 9.
  • Affected Areas: Includes Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne, Seaford, Brighton, Worthing, Littlehampton, and the Witterings.
  • Wind Speeds: Inland gusts of 50–60 mph are likely, while exposed coasts and hills may experience gusts up to 70 mph

  • Travel Disruption: Possible delays or cancellations for road, rail, air, and ferry services. Some roads and bridges may be closed.
  • Infrastructure: Potential for power cuts and disruption to mobile phone coverage.
