The Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm Trail is currently in its 53rd year, having officially opened on Good Friday, 3 April 2026.
This world-renowned event at Bates Green Farm in East Sussex continues until Sunday, 10 May 2026, offering a spectacular display of native English bluebells across 23 acres of ancient oak woodland.
Current Sightings & Best Time to Visit
As of April 2026, the wood is transitioning through its spring stages:
- Current Status: White wood anemones are in full bloom. In the south-facing areas of Beatons Wood, a distinct "blue haze" is visible as over 50% of the bluebells have emerged.
- Peak Bloom: The display typically reaches its most intense blue in late April and early May. Current warm, sunny weather is expected to encourage rapid flowering.
- Sunlight: Arriving early (doors open at 10:00 am) is recommended for photographers to capture the sun breaking through the woodland canopy.

- Opening Times: Daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Admission: Adults £9.00, Children (3-16) £4.50, Family (2+4) £23.00. No advance booking is required for individuals.
- Location: Bates Green Farm, Tye Hill Road, BN26 6SH. It is roughly 3 miles from Polegate and Berwick train stations.
- Accessibility: The primary 2/3 mile "Blue Walk" through Beatons Wood is wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly with gravel paths and frequent benches.
The "Charity of the Day"
A unique feature of the walk is that it is stewarded by rotating local charities who provide homemade refreshments in the Bluebell Barn. Since its inception in 1972, the event has raised over £1.1 million for local causes.
