Employment charity People Matter supports people across Wealden and is funded through the District Council's Community Grants programme.
The charity aims to support employment, training and coaching for long term unemployed and vulnerable people in Hailsham and Crowborough. There are three appointments available fortnightly in Crowborough and five appointments in Hailsham across two days (one morning and one afternoon). Clients can also access services remotely by telephone and online.
Since offering services in Crowborough, People Matter has made extensive efforts to engage with other local services and is now working with Ukrainian Hubs to offer more outreach services in Hellingly, Heathfield and Crowborough in the New Year.
Last year People Matter was allocated £10,000 per year for three years through a Service Level Agreement from the Council.
Councillor Pam Doodes, Wealden’s portfolio holder for Community, said, “Our Community Grants Programme was designed to help charities like People Matter to continue their great work helping to support people finding work.
“People Matter is an essential part of our communities so residents can work and live in the local area.”
