Weekend Sporting Preview

In the weekend’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town will be hoping to get back to winning ways after four straight defeats, as they visit AFC Varndeanians.

Meanwhile, following their excellent victory in the Sussex Senior Cup in midweek, Crowborough Athletic return to league action tomorrow, as they host lowly Saltdean.

Also in the Southern Combination League, runaway leaders Jarvis Brook go to Upper Beeding.

In the Mid Sussex League, Rotherfield have a home clash with Sedlescombe Rangers, while Newick visit Lectern Lights and Plumpton entertain Fairfield.

In cup competitions, Ridgewood take on Sovereign Saints at the Uckfield All-weather pitch.  And there are away matches for Fletching and Barcombe against Cuckfield Town and Crawley United respectively.

In the Isthmian Premier Division, Lewes entertain struggling Corinthian Casuals.  And in the Premier League, there should be an attractive game for Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow, as they welcome Liverpool to the Amex Stadium.

In women’s football, Lewes are away to Southampton, while Brighton Ladies visit bottom club Leicester.

Finally, in rugby union, Uckfield make the short trip to Haywards Heath.  Elsewhere, Crowborough face a stiff test with a visit to league leaders Old Alleynians.
