Not surprisingly, the weekend’s local football programme was badly disrupted by frozen pitches.
The matches involving AFC Uckfield Town and Crowborough Athletic were among those postponed.
But, some of our other local teams in the Mid Sussex League did manage to play. Uckfield United won four-two at AFC Ringmer’s third team. Hartfield lost two-nil at home to Reigate Priory, while Plumpton were beaten three-two at AFC Ringmer’s fourth team. And there were plenty of goals at Maresfield, where the home side defeated Portslade Athletic Reserves six-four !
In rugby union, both Uckfield and Crowborough had their games postponed.
Finally, today’s race meeting at Plumpton has been abandoned because of a frozen track.
