Beach Life to Bring Early Summer Festival Vibes

Eastbourne’s biggest free music festival will bring an early start to the summer season with a return to the Bandstand from Saturday 30 – Sunday 31 May.

Showcasing the best in local talent, the annual fiesta of live music and mouthwatering street food promises a packed programme of performances all weekend.

The family-friendly festival will showcase a range of genres on the iconic Bandstand stage from 11am to 5pm each day, from a top tribute act to classic rock, pop, funk, R&B, country, new wave, mod, soul and ska.

In a bumper weekend of events, the seafront market and 999 Emergency Services Display will also take place along the seafront, Wish Tower and Western Lawns in what will be the final weekend of the May half term.

Eastbourne Borough Council’s Lead Member for Tourism & Place, Cllr Jenny Williams said, “Beach Life always brings the festival vibe to the seafront with a sensational two days of live music, inspirational performances, tasty food and family fun.

“With so much taking place over the Spring bank holiday week – from the town’s vibrant carnival parade and Toploader homecoming gig to the 999 Emergency Services showcase, funfair, seafront market and now Beach Life - Eastbourne is really ramping up the fun this May for all generations.”

Performing live on the Bandstand stage, Sam as Elton is back with the UK’s youngest Elton John tribute on Saturday 30 May with all the classic hits from the legendary showman.

Sam is followed by Zachary Dogwood, a post-punk new wave outfit with Nick Cave and David Bowie vibes, and party band Rewind 45 will be bringing a mixture of rock, funk and pop classics spanning across six decades in a multi-generational set.

On Sunday 31 May, Ultra Sound return with a powerhouse set of classic rock anthems and a high energy performance from the five-piece band, born from the fusion of local groups Unihorn and Scallywag.

Joining them on the bill is acoustic duo Spooky Wagons, specialising in R&B, country and pop with a twist, and The Modsteppers will be reliving the best of mod, soul and ska, in a high energy performance. Further acts over the two days will be announced soon.

Street food stalls will be offering a tantalising tour of the world alongside face painting, a fully stocked Bandstand bar and retail stalls offering a range of gifts and goodies.

Nearby the bustling Seafront Market will be offering great gifts and continental favourites and on the Western Lawns the 999 Emergency Services Display will be in full swing both days.

No ticket is required for the music festival during the day, however once Beach Life wraps up proceedings at 5pm the party continues with tickets available for the Bandstand’s seasonal tribute shows each evening.
