A new business park in Crowborough has been granted full planning permission by Wealden councillors after a decision made at Planning Committee North today (1st February)
The site is located at the western end of Farningham Road, Crowborough, within an industrial estate known as Wealden Business Park, which already comprises of 41 industrial/commercial units.
The granted planning permission is for the erection of two commercial buildings together with associated external works which include parking and landscaping.
Each building will contain four units and will be suitable for general industrial, business and storage and distribution uses. The units have been designed in keeping with existing buildings nearby and the wider industrial estate.
The new units will be fitted with monopitch roofs and will allow for future occupiers to adapt the units depending on a business’s needs and to create a mezzanine level if required. Skylights are proposed on the roof to ensure adequate daylight levels.
The development will feature various sustainable elements including Solar PV, battery storage, EV charge points and on-site bicycle storage. The units will also be constructed using materials that will provide high levels of insulation.
Councillor Kelvin Williams, Alliance for Wealden (Liberal Democrat), and lead councillor for Public Health, Wellbeing and Asset Management, said, “This is a great project which will create some very high-end employment space with quality and sustainability at the very core of its design. It is anticipated that the development could result in the creation of jobs with dozens more being employed during the development period. The development of the units should attract new businesses to the area due to the great network connections with Tunbridge Wells, Kent and London.”
