Flooding forces Eastbourne roller-skating rink to close

The My Skateworld roller-skating rink in Eastbourne has been forced to close following a catastrophic ingress of water

According to reports on the My Skateworld Facebook Page, the flooding has severely impacted all areas of the building.

  • Ruined areas: The soft play area has been destroyed and the carpets are completely soaked.
  • Infrastructure: The venue's furnishings and electrical systems have suffered major damage.
  • Historical context: Having served the community for over 15 years, this marks the longest period the venue has ever had to close its doors.

Current Status and Reopening Plans

Staff, skate marshals, and parents have successfully cleared the standing water, and the venue is currently undergoing a extensive drying-out process.

  • Timeline: Management is hopeful to reopen within a week or two.
  • Dependencies: The exact reopening date remains dependent on assessments and remedial works managed by insurers and contractors.
