There was disappointment for both AFC Uckfield Town and Crowborough Athletic in their final matches of the league season

Uckfield went down to defeat by the only goal at Broadbridge Heath, while Crowborough were beaten three-nil at Deal Town.

In the Mid Sussex League, Nutley beat DCK five-two. Lewes ended their campaign in the Isthmian Premier Division with a two-all draw at home to Bowers and Pitsea.

In women’s football, Lewes ladies lost one-nil at Coventry United in the Championship. In the Super League, Brighton ladies were beaten three-one at home to the bottom club Birmingham.

In local cricket, there was victory for Buxted Park yesterday in the opening round of this season’s National Village Cup, as they defeated Plumpton and East Chiltington by seven wickets.

Sussex’s county team suffered a heavy defeat in their latest Championship match at Worcestershire, going down by an innings and 34 runs.
