Brighter Uckfield, a group of community volunteers are awarded The King's Award for voluntary service
This is the highest award a local volunteer group can be awarded and is equivalent to receiving an MBE. Roger Isaacson, Chairman of Brighter Uckfield said that the group are greatly honoured to have received one of the first Voluntary Service awards of the King's reign.
For 17 years, volunteers have worked in all weathers to ensure that the town remains free of litter and is welcoming for visitors and residents alike. Among other activities, the group also undertakes gardening, arranges floral displays and liaises with local waste management companies after large public events in the town.
