This year's Mayor's Charity Ball has been hailed a resounding success after raising an impressive £11,500 for two local charities.
The total represents the highest amount raised in at least the last 18 years, making the Ball - held in March - a standout occasion in the event's long history.
Guests enjoyed an elegant evening of entertainment, music and fundraising at the Winter Garden, with generous support from local businesses and organisations helping to make the night unforgettable.
The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Bannister, said: "I am hugely grateful to everyone who helped make the evening so special. My sincere thanks go to our main sponsor, GLL (Better), and to Lightning Fibre for sponsoring the prosecco reception.
"I would also like to thank Margaret Watson for her wonderful harp music during the drinks reception, Keith Ridley for acting as MC, Don McPhee for his invaluable help with the raffle and fundraising on the night, Rewind 45 for keeping everyone entertained on the dance floor, and Trafalgar for providing such an excellent venue and catering.
"Finally, thank you to everyone who supported the Ball by attending, donating raffle prizes or advertising in the event programme. Your generosity has helped us raise a remarkable amount of money and it is truly appreciated."
All proceeds will go to the Mayor's chosen charities: Eastbourne Street Pastors, a voluntary group providing essential care and support on the streets, and Forward Facing which works tirelessly to help local families affected by serious illness or bereavement.
