A Christmas cracker is in prospect when AFC Uckfield Town renew rivalries with Crowborough Athletic over the festive period. It will be the first time that the two teams have met in a competitive league match for several years, after Crowborough were reinstated into the Southern Combination League this season following a period of seven years in the Southern Counties East League
Crowborough are currently 11th in the Premier Division table, with Uckfield lying in 15th place. But, just as important as the three points, local bragging rights are up for grabs for the eagerly anticipated local derby clash.
The match is due to take place on the Bank Holiday Tuesday 27 December at the Crowborough Community Stadium – kick-off at 3 pm.
The return match at Uckfield is scheduled for Easter Monday.
Uckfield are also in action on the New Year Bank Holiday Monday 2 January, when they will host Lingfield in an 11 am kick-off at the Oaks. On the same day, Crowborough face a stern test with a visit to top-of-the-table Crawley Down Gatwick.
The area’s local village teams have a break over the festive period and are due to resume action on Saturday 7 January.
