Castleford Homes have now submitted an application for a new development on land at Horstedpond Farm. The proposals includes 400 new homes, 140 of which are set to be affordable homes.
Having held an online public exhibition from 15th June 2022 until 31st August 2022, the development received numerous responses about the need for new homes for first time buyers, for affordable homes and for solar panels to reduce CO2 emissions.
Castlefort Homes is keen to promote walking and cycling across the site through a network of footpaths and cycle routes, to ensure that the site is well-connected and sustainable. Part of this vision includes bus access thanks to an innovative partnership with Brighton buses.
However, with the proposed site, an area of approx. 27.2 hectares on the southern edge of Uckfield, we want to hear from the residents of Uckfield about what the site can provide for the community, as there is a large amount of open and accessible green space included in the plans.
The main aim of the application for this site is to retain and protect areas of ecological value including hedgerows, trees and woodland by making sure the development respects the natural features, enhances connectivity and access for residents to the countryside.
Daniel O’Brien of Castlefort Homes stated that “After the initial feedback from the online public exhibition, which gave us a great insight from the residents of Uckfield we are keen to hear back from the community once again.”
“As part of the development, Castlefort Homes wants to give back to the community and we want to hear from you about what provisions you believe would be best for Uckfield. Please visit our website www.horstedpondfarm.com and fill out our questionnaire.”
