The retired police detective taking part in the 2026 series of BBC’s The Traitors is Amanda Collier, a 57-year-old from Brighton
She is a former detective chief inspector who intends to use the skills she developed during her career—such as being "deceptive, devious, and cunning"—to excel in the competition. Amanda has stated that she plans to keep her former profession a secret from her fellow contestants to avoid creating suspicion.
She spent her career interviewing criminals and victims, learning how to "see through lies" and piece together the truth.
Since retiring, she has become an active volunteer in her community, helping vulnerable people such as those with dementia or disabilities.
She is one of 22 contestants in Series 4, which launched on January 1, 2026.
If she wins a share of the £120,000 prize, she plans to donate a portion to a charity for pulmonary hypertension in memory of her brother.
The full line-up for the new series, including Amanda, can be found on the BBC Media Centre or followed via BBC iPlayer
