Aldi has named six specific locations across Sussex where it is actively eyeing up potential sites for new stores.
. The budget supermarket chain is investing more than £370 million into UK expansions this year as part of its ongoing, long-term push to reach 1,500 total stores nationwide.
The 6 Target Sussex Locations:-
- Brighton
- Crawley
- Haywards Heath
- Newhaven / Peacehaven
- Polegate
- Worthing
Some of these regions are already progressing through the pipeline. For instance, Aldi has previously submitted site plans on Perrymount Road in Haywards Heath and has held community consultations for a planned development on Eastbourne Road in Polegate.
What Aldi is Looking For
To secure these new branches, the retailer is actively looking to acquire land or units that meet the following strict criteria:
- Site Size: A minimum of 2 acres to safely hold an 18,000 to 20,000 sq ft store footprint.
- Parking: Enough space to accommodate at least 100 dedicated customer vehicles.
- Positioning: Prominent main road frontage with straightforward access, either right in a town centre or situated on the edge of center.
- Demographics: Locations in or near towns with a catchment population of at least 15,000 people.
- Proximity: Spaced at a minimum distance of 1.5km away from any existing Aldi storefront.
How the Public Can Get Involved
Shoppers can help select the exact boundaries for these future grocery stores. If you want to nominate a specific neighborhood or highlight an ideal commercial plot, Aldi is inviting customers to send an email to NextNewStore@aldi.co.uk. Make sure to state the exact town or area name in the subject line.
The deadline for this round of community submissions is Thursday, June 18, after which the real estate team will analyze the most requested zones to choose its next "priority locations".
