A CHARITY supporting more than 1,000 people across Sussex affected by any disability is thrilled to be benefitting from the Eastbourne Community Awards 2026.
SASBAH moved into The JPK Hub in Church Street, Old Town, at Christmas 2024, and Chief Executive Rom Sanglaji is keen to raise awareness of what it does.
It stands for the Sussex Association of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, but now also supports people with other disabilities as well.
Rom said: "We are thrilled that both ourselves and St Wilfrid's Hospice will benefit from the Eastbourne Community Awards 2026.
"I want to thank the organisers Coda Pharmacy, Glass House on Eastbourne seafront and Bournefree.
"Being supported in this way makes such a big difference to a small charity like ours."
This is what SASBAH does:
· It works with local business to provide valuable work experience for people with disabilities - members are in the office every workday and it's a truly positive environment
· Provides social and digital inclusion activities
· Holidays for the SASBAH community, also meaning respite care for families and carers
· Advisers service providing advice and advocacy on issues such as benefits, relationships, adaptations, care provision and any other matters affecting everyday living. Never has this been more important.
· Weekly social group running each Wednesday evening
· Support groups across Sussex.
Rom said: "We are proud at what we achieve here at SASBAH. For over 60 years we have created a family-feel environment and embraced so many disadvantaged individuals."
