Plans have been submitted to convert the former Domino’s Pizza takeaway at 32 High Street in Hailsham into a permanent Post Office and Banking Hub.
This new facility, operated by Cash Access UK Limited, is intended to provide a long-term home for banking services following the closure of major high street branches like Lloyds and Halifax.
Key Features of the Proposal:-
- Location: The site is the former Domino's at 32 High Street.
- Services: The hub will enable both consumers and small businesses to access cash, make deposits, and use basic banking services face-to-face.
- Infrastructure Improvements: Proposed changes include replacing existing single-glazed windows and doors with double glazing for better security and energy efficiency, with frames re-finished in black/grey.
- Accessibility: The plans maintain level access into the building and ensure full wheelchair access throughout the interior.
-
Current Interim Arrangement:-
Until the permanent site at 32 High Street is approved and completed, a temporary "pop-up" Banking Hub continues to operate from the existing
Hailsham Post Office at 10 High Street
. This interim hub provides access to community bankers from major banks on a rotating weekly schedule:
- Monday: Barclays
- Tuesday: Lloyds
- Wednesday: NatWest
- Thursday: HSBC
- Friday: Halifax
The transition to the new premises at 32 High Street aims to consolidate these vital community services into a larger, dedicated space.
