Sussex brewery has sights on second micropub site

Three Acre Brewery has officially revealed plans to open a second micropub venue on Heathfield's High Street, which may ironically open before its long-delayed first site.

The Key Details

  • The Brewery: Three Acre Brewery, founded nine years ago by school friends Jamie Newton, Peter Mayhew, and Chester Broad out of Blackboys, East Sussex.
  • The New Site: Named The Storehouse, it will occupy a prominent corner unit at 48 High Street (on the corner of Cherwell Road) in the heart of Heathfield.
  • The Twist: Due to unforeseen bureaucratic and planning delays with their original site—a historic 1858 railway signal box at Uckfield station—this second Heathfield location is on track to open first.

What to Expect at The Storehouse

  • Hyper-Local Focus: The bar will showcase craft beers and local produce, the vast majority of which are brewed just a "stone's throw away".
  • Community Hub: Plans include hosting live music, quizzes, local talks, and exhibitions.
  • Crowdfunder Perks: The brewery confirmed that investors who backed the original Uckfield Signal Box campaign can fully redeem their free beer tokens at the new Heathfield site.
  • Timeline: A long-term lease has been agreed, planning applications have been submitted to Wealden District Council, and renovations are slated to begin shortly with an eye toward opening later this year.

Meanwhile, work is concurrently moving ahead behind the scenes to push the Uckfield signal box conversion through its final hurdles.
