Three men have been fined for poaching in Pevensey.
Police attended Normans Bay, Pevensey on Saturday 21 March at around 2pm after receiving a report of a group of men carrying dead animals.
Officers swiftly located the men and the investigation commenced.
Following initial enquiries, the three men were sent postal requisitions a week later and were summonsed to appear at court.
Johnny Glasheen, 20, of Plymouth Avenue, Brighton, Edward Glisheen, 36, of Plymouth Avenue, Brighton, and Joe Ripley, 42, of New Road, Rustington, appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 3 June.
The trio all pleaded guilty to daytime trespass in pursuit of game (poaching) and hunting a wild mammal with dogs.
They have each been ordered to pay £505 in fines and court costs.
Rural Crime Team officer Police Constable Zoe King, the officer in charge of the case, said: “Poaching and hare coursing will not be tolerated in Sussex.
“It puts our local wildlife at risk of serious harm and death, and it impacts farmers whose land is trespassed upon, and crops are often destroyed.
“We will continue investigating any report received and pursuing those responsible.”
