Sussex Police welcomed a new cohort of 45 new Police Constables and Detective Constables during an attestation ceremony held on Thursday, 23 April 2026.
The ceremony, where recruits took their oath to King Charles III, marks the official beginning of their policing careers as they received their warrant cards.

- Diverse Backgrounds: The new officers join from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. For instance, recruit Johanna Diaz joined after a 15-year career in Spain, inspired by her grandfather who was a Police Commissioner.
- Recruit Motivations: Bethany Young another new recruit, expressed her lifelong dream of becoming a detective to help society and make a difference in people's lives during times of crisis.
- Venue & Attendance: The event took place at the East Sussex National Hotel in Uckfield, where recruits were joined by friends, family, and distinguished guests, including Chief Constable Jo Shiner.
